Procedure
It is a surgical procedure that aims to restore and give a more youthful appearance to the eye, by removing excess skin from fat pads on the eyelids. Blepharoplasty has a rejuvenating power on the face, as it eliminates the effects of age and gravity in the eye area.
In some situations, excess skin and tissue ptosis (fall) is so pronounced that it can compromise the visual field and vision.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia under sedation, on an outpatient basis. It can be performed only on the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, or both.
The incisions are placed so that they are as inconspicuous as possible, in the natural folds of the eyes, or in the conjunctiva.
Approximate Duration
1h to 2h
Anesthesia
local or local anesthesia with sedation
Recovery Setting
in an outpatient or overnight stay
Recovery
7 to 10 days
MYTH – I will have patches in my eyes after surgery.
No. However, it is recommended to wear glasses or apply cold gel masks for three days after the operation.
MYTH – Results are immediately visible.
Unfortunately, the final result is only seen around the third month after surgery.
MYTH – Scars are very visible.
As the skin of the eyelids is very thin, scars end up being very easily disguised in the furrows of the skin.
