What is Botulinum Toxin?
Treatment with botulinum toxin is a procedure performed to correct and prevent expression lines by inhibiting the contraction of small muscle bundles that insert into the skin and whose repeated contraction, over the years, gives rise to expression wrinkles. Allows you to obtain a smoother facial expression and, therefore, more “rested”.
Through this procedure it is possible to modify the position of anatomical structures, namely raising the eyebrows and the corners of the mouth, preventing the gums from being visible and preventing the tip of the nose from descending when smiling.
This procedure makes it possible to balance the different muscles of the face and neck, relaxing the depressor muscles (which pull the tissues down) and allowing the elevator muscles (which pull the tissues up) to act more efficiently.
Botulinum toxin is applied locally, in very low doses, to the muscles to be treated, with very fine needles, without discomfort and so that the patient can immediately resume normal life.
The aesthetic indications of this substance have been a tiny part of the indications in different specialties of Medicine for several decades.
